How to Prepare for Your Reiki Session

Updated: Aug 7

If it's your first time experiencing a Reiki session you may be wondering what you need to do or how to prepare before you come to your session. Here is some guidance I provide to my clients:

How to Prepare for Your Reiki Session

By the way if you missed the previous post in this series, click here.

  • You want to be comfortable, so wear comfortable loose fitting clothing.

  • Wear socks or bring a pair of socks with you to keep your feet warm because your body temperature can change throughout the session. Especially if you have cold feet, go ahead and bring that extra pair of socks just as a backup.

  • Take some time to quietly reflect before the session, just check in with how you're feeling mentally, emotionally, and physically. Notice what's going on before you start your session.

  • The other tip I have is to think about what your intention is for your session. Do you have an intention? Is it just to relax? Do you have a particular physical symptom or problem that you need working on? Do you need clarity on a particular situation in your life? Are you looking for guidance? So, take a moment to think about what your intention is for your session. I have been doing sessions for a long time when I first started having Reiki sessions myself, and I would just go in with the intention to just completely relax and unwind and de-stress.

  • Come hydrated; make sure you drink plenty of water before, during, and after your session.

  • Arrive a a few minutes before your session so you're not stressed out, and then you can come even more at ease into your session.

Let me know what else you would find useful to know before your session.
