ABOUT KUNDALINI
There are many paths and lineages in yoga and I specifically chose to train in Kundalini Yoga because the practice works on our energy bodies with a combination of physical postures, breathwork, and mantra (sacred sound vibrations). This aligns well with my Reiki practice, my passion for breathwork and sound healing.
Kundalini derives from the Sanskrit word kundal, which translates to “coiled energy.”
Through the practice, one learns to feel, move and transform that energy to create a specific result in consciousness. This can be something physical (like better digestion), emotional (like a more open and loving heart space) or even on a spiritual level.
Our bodies have their own unique history, and hence I believe that Yoga Meets U exactly where you are, so this practice is for all levels.
ABOUT HATHA
Several years ago I participated in my first 10-night silent meditation retreat where we had several hours of meditation a day plus a Hatha Yoga practice.
It was an unforgettable experience where I was able to reach a meditative state more in holding the yoga postures for a longer time, than meditating in a seated position.
I love this practice for exactly that reason and thrilled to no share.
__________________________________________
Yoga comes from the root word ‘yug,’ meaning to ‘yoke’, to ‘unite’. For ‘union’ to occur, there must be two or more of something to unite.
With the use of asanas (postures) in hatha yoga we strive to unite the two polar energies within ourselves to come to a state of yoga, a union of the different aspects of our being, and ultimately of ourselves and the universe.
Hatha is symbolically translated as ha – sun, and tha – moon, therefore hatha yoga is the path to union between the solar and lunar energies within us.
The sun and the moon are the symbols of the two polar energies from which the universe is manifested, the yin and the yang; the masculine and feminine. They epitomize the twofold and complementary character of the universe. Yin and yang exist only in relation to the other and are inseparable.
In this Hatha practice, we use postures, breath, and meditation to come into union. You will enter the postures slowly, find a position which you can maintain without movement for a period of time, finding the perfect balance between relaxation, comfort, and effort.
Holding postures for an average of 2-5 minutes can be challenging but allows you to tap into the individual and universal energies of the chakras, to enter a meditative state, and create a state of stable equilibrium on the physical, mental, emotional, and psychological levels.
