MY JOURNEY

Did you have the perfect childhood? Do you know anyone who has?

Like many, my childhood was far from perfect. From a very young age, I witnessed and experienced physical, emotional and sexual abuses, lived in foster care, was surrounded by alcoholism, and you might guess, came from a financially poor environment.

I knew from an early age that I wanted to ‘progress’, improve my circumstances, be a better person and have some sense of ‘financial’ security.

I had no idea what that looked like, however there seemed to be an ingrained societal belief that in order to ‘progress’, in order to become ‘financially secure’, you needed to go to university and gain steady employment. I thought I was doing well as I found myself on this path. I earned a university degree, worked for a great company where I worked long and hard, and I continued to gradually progress; this enabled me to travel and live abroad. On paper, my life looked pretty good.

And then one day, I realized I was unhappy. I thought I had broken the pattern of what I experienced in childhood, until I realized that although I wasn’t in a ‘physically’ abusive relationship, I was in one which had all the same patterns. I decided I no longer wanted to live this way, decided enough was enough, and decided it was time to make a change.

Strangely, I found myself consciously aware that this decision was not about the circumstances I found myself in, it was about me. I needed to change something about me. I was clear on what I did not want, and clueless about what I did want. And how would I go about figuring this out? To say I felt stuck was an understatement.

The universe heard me loud and clear and knew I was ready for the next part of my journey. One thing led to another, and suddenly the right teachers came into my life at the right time. Within a couple of months I had my first experience with Reiki, a hands-on relaxation technique which reduces stress and promotes healing. At that time, I had no idea what the practitioner was doing, I didn’t even know it was Reiki, in fact I had never heard of Reiki. What I did know, is that after the first session I experienced a significant physical change in my breathing. I realized that I hadn’t been breathing correctly, my breath had been short and shallow. This was tangible evidence to me that ‘whatever’ the practitioner was ‘doing’, something was working, even if I didn’t quite understand it. Reiki helped me physically, and more importantly, mentally. It helped calm my mind, which enabled me to better focus and open myself to my spiritual path.

A couple of months into my spiritual journey, I was introduced to an amazing coach. I walked out of many sessions with my head spinning, wondering ‘what the heck just happened’. The work we did together was an unforgettable, life changing turning point, where I knew there was no going back to who I had previously been.

I later understood that many techniques used in our sessions were based on Neuro-Linguistic Programming [NLP]. NLP is like a user manual for the mind and helps make changes at the subconscious level, which drives many of our behaviors and beliefs.

The NLP techniques helped remove key limiting beliefs I had about myself, beliefs about what ‘progress’ and ‘financial security’ looked like, about my self-esteem, and much more. My thinking became more open and I found myself doing things I had felt I could never do before, like writing, and considering future possibilities that I previously would never have dreamed of - like leaving my steady employment and travelling the world.

I found myself making real progress personally, and at the same time still uncertain of the direction I wanted to take my professional life. I knew I still had work to do on this front, so I continued working on ‘me’ and the universe kept opening doors and clearing the weeds off my path. I didn’t always understand some events along the way, I just inherently knew they were part of a bigger plan and were leading me in the direction for a significant life shift to better align myself with my true-life purpose.

My journey continued as I participated in extended silent meditation retreats on Lake Titicaca, Peru, in Mexico, and in Buddhist monasteries in Myanmar; as I spent time in the Brazilian healing sanctuary of Casa de Dome Inàcio de Loyola and participated in several of Dr. Joe Dispenza’s advanced workshops among many others.

Along the way I took a leap and left my ‘financially secure’ employment. I began training in techniques that helped me in my journey, like Reiki and NLP, and others such as Asian Bio-Energetic Therapy, a combination of several holistic Asian healing techniques and SITH/Ho’oponopono, an ancient spiritual Hawaiian problem solving technique working with the subconscious. I’ve participated in the ancient Ayurvedic cleansing known as Panchakarma.

There are two key learnings along my journey that really stand out for me.

First, in order to help others, you must help and care for yourself first. I became a much better leader and mentor in my previous corporate job once I started changing myself.

Second, you are one part of the universe. Sages have said your body is a universe within the universe. In order to have balance, we need to care for ourselves holistically, and as a 'whole'; accounting for our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. A great teacher of mine used to say imagine these as four legs on a table, when is dented or broken, the 'whole' is off balance.

I have practiced, coached, and/or trained Reiki, Asian Bio-Energetics, and NLP in Thailand, India, England and the USA and provided volunteer Reiki services and training in Thailand in remote villages, cancer hostels, men’s half-way home, woman’s psychiatric ward, dog shelters and love to share Reiki with friends and family wherever possible and volunteered as an NLP coaching assistant for new trainees on several occasions in Bangkok.

The combination of my commercial and change management experience, my personal development path, and the skills I’ve trained and practiced in, enable me to help you with your journey.

I am grateful for all my life’s experiences as every perceived positive or negative experience has provided many useful lessons, all of them leading me to who I am today and who I will become tomorrow. I feel centered, connected, and passionate about my purpose and my life.

I want to invite you to join me on this amazing journey. It's time that you take control of your life and start living life to the fullest. Now is the time to start! Click on the image below to begin your journey to a happy, healthy, fuller life!
